W e bought our last corgi 90yeras ago & I wondered what sort of price they go for now? We do not want a show dog - just a pet. We'd like a small smooth coated dog not a fluffy one. Do breeders sell the pups that don't make the grade as a show or breeding dog ? - If so does anybody know for one !??

Hi Guest

I have a lovely 15 month old Pem who makes regular appearances on this board. He is not the fluffy type. He has some very intense colours in his fur which I love [Dad was a tri and Mum was red & white]. My breeders won't breed again until next year - they lost Mum during whelp and were very traumatised. They have also been looking for a long time for the right bitch from Wales and are very keen on breeding for good temperament. If you want to see some of their own dogs, they are in the October "Dogs Today" posing somewhere in the middle pages with a blonde "celebrity".

If you want one sooner then I would try the list of Pem breeders on: http://www.the-welsh-corgi-club.co.uk/

These days the cost of dog/bitch is around £400. Mine is a pet - I don't do any showing or breeding.
Let me know if you want more info and I'll email you.

Cardigans are not really "rare" they are just not as common as Pems - if you want one of these try

Good luck
Cissy
