Hi Everyone,
I havent been on here for a while, I gave up smoking and can only just sit here with out lighting up now!!

My Bullmastiff pup (Buffy) aged 6 months has become horrible to take training and out for her walks, about 6 weeks ago we were at ring craft when she was spooked by a Bulldog with heavy breathing!! Since then Buffy goes for every dog she meets, although if they are not nose to nose she is fine. This really has me baffled and I have tried numerous things to squash this attitude. We have our first proper show in a few weeks and I dont want to have to worry whether she is going to want to eat everything!! Any advice please :D

Thanks

Kelly

I suggest you go back to basics and use a halti for a few weeks, let your dog go near another dog but not touching it and keep on saying good boy or whatever and reward it with treats, at least if your dog does snap you can close it's mouth slightly with the halti and it won't like that!
The breeder i got my dog from told me this and it did work for me.

Hello. I had a problem with Gia, my Bullmastiff, when she was about 6 months too, but she wanted to jump on everyone because she wanted cuddles! She had a halti on for a few months and it really stopped her from doing that. But I wonder if it was really the halti or she just grew out of it- matured???

Hi,
I have heard such conflicting stories about the Halti, some say they are great and others say they give a false sense of security. I think I will give it a try. She is such a loving dog and is fine as long as she doesnt go face to face(??) I can walk right beside another dog with her without any trouble. I think it might just be her age and hopefully will out grow it soon. I also think that the bulldog may have scared her so now she is a big baby pretending to be brave :D :D
Thanks Guys

Have a look on ebay you should get a second hand one there, just incase your dog doesn't tolerate it yu won't have spent alot.
They don't suit every dog but mine did quite well with it, otherwise do without and just stroke him and reassure him when meeting other dogs then treat him. So hopefully he will associate naughty behaviour means no treat or praise.
