Hi, my dog has just started losing all his coat - coming out by the bag full when I brush him. He is almost 18 months, and did moult earlier in the year, about spring time. Just wondering whether it's not unusual at this time of year, coming into winter (and he doesn't spend hours in a hot room or anything!). I'm sure my other two dogs never lost their coats in Oct. Would it be to do with his age? He's an Australian Shepherd. Just glad I've not entered him for any shows!!

Same here but don't know the reason: I've been cloning one corgi per day for about the last week so I was also surprised - seems like he just finished his late Spring moult and now he is prematurely starting his late Autumn one.
His pantaloons are the worst bit - just a bottomless pit of fur ..
Otherwise he seems fine...
our kennel dogs are losing their thick coats, as are the horses, and my goats, it is probably down to the weather that we have been having, cooling down then warming back up again, the heaters for the dogs are going to be needed sooner than we would have expected
Think you're right about the heaters going to be needed soon! Heard on the forecast that the weekend is going to be bitterly cold - and here's our poor dogs - and horses and goats!! losing their coats! Bad timing! Glad we're not the only one though.

I would not worry, my dogs always go through another moult at this time of the year, as do the dogs (different breeds) of my friends.
