... can anyone tell me how to keep your dogs coat odour free (as best you can) i have noticed that Perry is becoming a little stink bomb very quickly, i bath him when he NEEDS it, after rolling in fox poo, after hurling himself into a bog, after running under the tractor that has driven through a mountain of dung...... sounds bad but i'll leave him as long as i can , so maybe once every 10 - 12 weeks, his coat hasn't suffered etc, and i don't use any harsh chemical shampoos. However recently he has got a really strong doggy smell going on....nothing like normal, people actually comment on it and i feel for him cos he loves a cuddle but MAN he hums and no one wants to cuddle a humming pup.
Help?

I bought a spray that gets rid of tangles from petsmart. Monty often smells like a pond and this seems to make him smell like a girl :)

i bought a doggy odur spray once from a cheap department store, but i never used it on our dog cause when i sprayed it, it smelled really strong like furniture polish. Im sure that wouldnt of smelt nice for the dog cause they smell stuff alot better then we can!!
It was weird stuff.
Our dog is a bit smelly too, so if anyone can advise on a proper spray that u can buy.....i too would be very interested:-)

Try your local independent pet shops rather than chain stores, my local guy does his own range of grooming products which includes a unisex fragrance animal body spray, basically febreze for dogs, it has a water base and then a fragrance and chamomile to soothe. It is great for giving the spaniels a zap when they smell of ponds and the mother-in-law is coming round.

When mine smell a bit whiffy and theres no time for bathing I find a good wipe over with Pampers baby wipes improves matters a little.

I find a swim every so often and a hose down when they are muddy keeps the doggie smells at bay, well the doggie smells I can smell !! I am sure if people come into the house it oftens smells of three smelly Labradors. :)
