Sweep was coming into heat when she had her op for due to food compaction which was 4wks last Sat & had what I thought was a show about 3wks ago(tho only a few drops & she is very clean). She was showing all the signs & now nothing! My other girls finished her`s now but I`m thinking sweep hasn`t had hers or it`s stopped, due to the operation? Can this happen or has she had/is having a silent one or might it be delayed & it`ll come back in a few wks/mths or maybe not till another 6mths when her next ones due???? All the flirty behaviours stopped & her vulva was showing signs of swelling but defo isn`t now. Had to isolate the boys this time so I could keep Sweep with me & couldn`t isolate Gwenny on her own & I want to bring the boys back now & as they`re pretty calm & don`t want them getting all worked up by bringing them back up & Sweeps just fooling me! :) . They`ve not taken too well to being moved & aren`t very happy really & want to be back here :) Any ideas please?

Hi Anne, yes I think the ops messed her up alright, well messed me up more as I`m the one worrying & madam couldn`t care less! :) Just don`t know what to think tho as in will she have another one & when or do I take that as a heat or ignore it, will she still be attractive to the boys, will they want to mate her & will she be obliging??? Well the boys came back up this morning but I haven`t let them see her yet, suppose a few of my questions will be answered later when they come in the house.....second thoughts no she`ll be going in the bedroom to be on the safe side my nerves couldn`t stand it if they caught her!!!

'Sometimes a bitch will produce all the signs of coming into heat, including some vulval enlargement and attraction to dogs, and yet will not start to bleed, and the physical signs may regress only to reappear four to eight weeks later. This is sometimes referred to as a 'split heat'. Presumably in such cases the oestrogen levels she is producing early on are not high enough to bring the bitch into season properly'

Hi Liberty, thanks for that :) I`ve just spent ages trying to get the book down from the loft after I saw your post before but can`t find it tho as its packed in boxes with the others typical! Thing is she did have 2 drops of blood plus a little speck (same time) & I said to myself oh right so thats you starting & made a mental note of it. Then I thought it funny I saw no more from her but thought it was because she`s very clean anyway with herself. Maybe this is a split one caused by the op having an effect on her hormones, if so that means she won`t be receptive to the boys & vice versa? I hope so cos the boys are back up here now :) :)

Well the boys have absolutely no interest in Sweepy even tho she`s been flirting with them, so she she must have skipped her heat. Just hope she decides to miss this one & have her next in 6mths so she`ll still be in unison with Gwenny.
