Hi all,
I have an 8mth. old shih-tzu female,Bonnie, who seems to be developing a bit of a paunch. i cant feel her ribs at all,she weighs 6.5 kilo,i heard somewhere that puppies dont get overweight, obviously a myth????
As some of you know i could not find "green tripe" here, well guess what i finally found a butcher who sells it for pets, yeeehaa!!
i wanted to feed the tripe to my other girl who is a tad lean, she is 3yrs. old and weighs 5.4 kilo,Problem is Bonnie absolutely goes crazy for it too so i have been giving them both 2 tablesp. each, every morning mixed into their dry food,is this too much?
Bonnie has a bit of growing still to do,i dont want to put any extra strain on her growing bones, she is due for a check up at the vet in 2mths. but i wanted to hear all of your opinions first, Can a pup become overweight? They get tripe & dry for breakie and home cooked meat, veg, pasta or rice for tea + a few treats in between and a raw meaty bone every 2 days.

Thanks

~christine~

Iwould just give tripe and biscuit meal in the morn and just the complete food in the evening and a treat at lunch time and nothing else. the pasta will put weight on so i would cut it all out.
