
Its not only cockers, as a kid I played the trumpet and as soon as I started practising my Bichon would start to yap then howl and one of my afghans would join in with the "singing" - heaven knows what the neighbours thought, they were so loud I could hardly hear myself playing !!. It wasnt just the trumpet either, one of our previous Afghans used to "sing" along to bag pipe music, and im sure the mouth organ set them off at one point too. It must be the tone of the instrument because they never bothered with the recorder or keyboard !!!
I wouldnt worry about it bringing back memories for him, dogs usually do sound sad when they howl, I think the reason mine did it was because they didnt like the sound because they used to escape the room after a while !!
