Out for a run tonight and headed for the car park as darkness fell with Morse trotting about the undergrowth as usual, then realised he wasnt with me. Called and whistled no sign of a white hide, no jingling disc, just night noises. As SB arrived in car there was I, blubbing like a bairn " Ahve loast ma dug! Hes oot there in the DARK!" SB called and 2 minutes later Morse appeared, panting like he'd run a marathon. What is he on?

God - bet your heart skipped a few beats !! When I saw your post I thought - oh no - please let Morse be ok! Glad he was.

I misplaced Blaze last night in the dark - quick wee before bedtime. Couldn't find him. I called and all - then turned round and fell over him!! The little 'B' had been there all the time laughing like 'Muttley' at me stumbling in the darkness.

On todays list of things to do - new batteries for my 'doozer' style headlamp!!

Nikki I swear our dogs are in communication somehow - arresting socks, counter surfing and hiding in the dark! I was so upset and SB of course laughed like a drain because Mischiievous Morse did the same to him the night before. He just toddles off exploring and if a rabbit pops up hes off. Its a Pointer thing. Now Morse is on a rehabilitation order ie 20ft line till he remembers to come when called, not in 5 minutes, not when hes tired just NOW.

Lord you sure now how to SCARE a woman. I thought you'd actually lost him then realised two seconds later that if you had you wouldn't be on champdogs talking about it but out there looking for him.

Sal is on a line at the moment with it getting dark and the "early bird firework nutters" I wouldn't risk her getting fightened by one of these "damned idiots" and running off scared. On the line I know where she is.

Glad it turned out alright in the end.

Sorry for the scare, karen, and thanks for the reminder about the firework nuts will keep him on line ( on message?) in future. As the flats communal bins havent exploded yet Id forgotten about the pyromaniacs.

Yes the fireworks scare me never mind the animals.

As it happens the cats have already started telling me they need to be kept in as we have already got a few rogue firework nutters around here. So I thought keeping Sal on the line or lead during the firework season was a small price to pay for keeping her safe.

The cats hate fireworks and at 21 they've seen quite a few years of them. They only go out into the garden and then demand I go with them :D

Stay safe, Karen

You got me going there i too thought you'd lost him.
I've just got back from a weeks holiday in Scotland. Daisy the Scottish terrier was a devil for getting under the gate and onto the farm track which when beyound the reach of the security light she was impossible to see. I'd have to shine a torch along the side of the road and there she'd be eating the cow muck.
Buddy was easier to see (Westie) but he like to escape into the next field and roll in the cow muck. So one way or another i spent a glorious week with the smell of cow muck in my nostrils.
Glad Morse was'nt really lost.

Hi budmag, whereabouts were you holidaying? If Buddy grows the size of a lab youll know not to let his feet go in dung :) Ive only recently discovered Scotties and theyre terrific wee characters. Morse has a puppy pal called Elsa ( Scottie) who tears through the little wood near us after him and goes mental trying to get to him if she sees us out. It looks weird this big lanky thing chasing after a tiny black fluffball but she keeps Morse in order! The other 2 are forever hunting rabbits. :)

We were staying in a cottage very close to Stairhaven in Glenluce. Visited Port Logan several times and have fallen in love with the place (so has Buddy). Am hoping to find a cottage for rent in the area for my next trip up there. Also enjoyed Mull of Gallway. Very depressed last night when i got home to all the noise and traffic etc. Where do you and Morse live ?.
Buddy and Daisy are best mates but she calls the shots. It does'nt stop him from pushing his luck though.

Flying North up the A1 is the only type of flying i do these days. Getting Buddy has put a stop to going abroad. I don't mind though i'd rather have him any day than roasting me bits on a beach.
