I have had two seperate people call me this evening about puppies asking if I know anyone with litters and both had telephoned a Consett (Co Durham) number in the Ad Trader, the first to be told that the so called breeder was looking after them for a friend, they were kept ourside because he didn't have anywhere else to keep them and they couldn't see the mother because that was left at the friends!! And the second that if the buyer collected this evening they could have £50 knocked off the price of £325 or he would bring three of the puppies to her house so she could choose one and he would only charge her £315 if she bought one tonight!!!

Alarm bells!!!!!!!!!!!!! Poor pup's - its not like you can ring the RSPCA to check on them - they would probably be adult dogs by the time they get round there.
It's sooo wrong, its all good and well to not buy and so discourage these scenario's but what about the poor pups?

Do you think that there is anything that anyone can do? I just suggested that in my opinion I wouldn't be interested in buying from any breeder unless I had seen the puppies with the mother and the environment in which they are being raised was to my satisfaction. It's really shocking though isn't it!

Puppy farms gen say there looking after a pup or pups for a freind. we bought one 13 yrs back not knowing,a old lady said she was looking after her because she was so small a yorkshire terrier had to look after her. anyway she ended up with so many illnesses,so i exsplained my story of my old cocker to a lady at the rage website and she said its more then likely to be a puppy farm, its just a thing they say to get rid!

Sounds like you've done your bit Andi. Wonder if poster or TV campaigns would raise awareness more than the notes on dog society/charity boards which reach those already doing their homework ?

These are the people selling the tibetan terriers at five weeks old last week.Every week they advertise different breeds,I think this week it is shih tzu's as well.I believe the man is the one who owns a puppy farm at Brampton in Cumbria and was caught coming into Stranraer from Ireland with 49 pups in appalling conditions.
I just cannot believe that he is allowed to carry on this disgraceful cruel practise without the authorities stepping in.
