Hi
It all depends on the dog that you have at the moment, including what sex it is and what the temprement is like.
If you already have a male you might be best going for a female dogue.
My advice would be to check out the breeder section on champdogs and try calling some of the listed dogue breeders and see what they think! They are the experts after all!!

We own a Dogue de Bordeaux who is 6 months old. We brought a bitch because they are less dominant (so we were told) then the dogs. We have socialized her from the day we brought her home, we have introduced her to big dogs, little dogs and most importantly taken her to puppy training which is the best way to socialize a puppy. It depends alot on the sex of the dog that you want to mix the DDB with. Im sure that the DDB will be fine as you will be introducing them at the puppies young age. Adult dogs seem to take alot more from a puppy then another older dog. Im no expert but i believe generally bitches will get along with both sexs, where as a dog my have confrontations with another dog.
DDB are very clever dogs... but very, very, stubbon and do take alot of training. In saying that we wouldnt be without ours. Good luck with your decision!!
