I have a 3 year old miniature poodle bitch. She was speyed at about age six month (just ofter her first season). She now has a problem with her claws which it has been suggested is caused by the lack of hormones resulting from the speying. They are growing but have cavities through their length. This is causing a weakness and allowing the claw sheath to split off and also she is getting infections in the claw bed. I am now giving her a supplement of essential fatty acids but she has not had the supplement for long enough to show any improvement. Has anyone know of a solution to this problem, please?
