my gsd bitch is 4 wks since being lined, her uhmm is rather swolen and firm ,if you know what i mean, she is paying it more attention than usual (a littile bit) there is no discharge and she otherwise seems fine....is It ok is it normal to swell? ok then this might not be as clear as it could be to be more graphic . her vulva is a bit swolen and slightly pinkish in colour
Are you trying to say that your bitch has been in season, mated, injected. had a nasal infection ...?
I don't understand your question so 'fraid I can't help at the moment

Sorry John, still not sure if you mean she has been mated or just had her season, or something else. Don't be shy spit it out. Dog people are happy to talk about their dogs bits and pieces.
If you bitch has just been in season then it is not unusual to remain more swollen than usual for even a couple of months - although a soft vulva rather than swollen might be more descriptive especially if she could be pregnant.
She could still, at 28 days have a discharge as some bitches can even be ovulating at this point in their season. The 21 day season is normal but a 4 or 5 week season is not totally abnormal.
Whatever - use a clean white tissue and gently press this against her vulva - if there is a clear or straw coloured discharge that does not smell then this should be okay. Do this quite a few times over 24 hours if necessary. If there is a discharge that is at all smelly, or discoloured get her straight to a vet as it could be an infection (even pyometra)
(Pyometra's can be open (discharging) or closed (infection in the womb which has closed and potentially much more serious).
Hope this helps
Christine
