I AM LOOKING AT PURCHASING A BLUE GREAT DANE PUPPY AND WOULD LIKE TO KNOW THE CRITERIA FOR IT BECOMING A STUD DOG. CAN ANYONE HELP ME PLEASE?

Yes. It should:

Be of sound temperement, showing no nervousness or aggression
Be an outstanding example of the Breed Standard
Come from a good breeder who is prepared to help you
Embark on a decent showing career and win some classes - there are plenty of very nice blue danes out there already proven
Be free from any hereditary defects.

I have a Dane who I would never ever use at stud. He is massive and is already highly charged sexually, if he were to get a taste for it then he would become very difficult to control... he already humps the sofa. Its a very specialised business, breeding danes, and should be left to those with experience and knowledge, and those embarking on it should explain to their breeder what they want their Dane for - reputable breeders endorse KC reg docs so if you don't explain, your dogs days as a stud are numbered from the beginning.

Finally, there are not that many homes out there looking for danes, so you need to ensure you are in the breeders circle so you get recommended.
