I know this has probably been asked before, but i cannot get anything to come up on the search. But here goes>>>>>.
How exactly do you start the toilet training over night of a puppy?? I have been asked this question by a friend whos, puppy is 9 weeks old and she comes down each morning to lots of wees and 3 to 4 poohs every morning?? I know it is to early to be fully dry etc, but how do you start the initial reducing. I know i should probably have the answers as i have had a pup and have 2 at the moment. But to be honest my puppies are reared outside in a large kennel and run, and so it was/has never been a major problem for me.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks

Overnights are difficult and will come with age. Normal toilet training was done by taking them out as soon as they have eaten, watch them when they look like they are thinking about it and then taking them outside asap and praising them loads when they perform outside. Also if you catch them in the act a firm No seems to help but must be done at the time not even 5secs later otherwise poor puppy will not know what you are asking of them.

IMO you can't train overnight unless you stay up and take the pup out if it wakes up. At 9 week it would be a suprise if there was not a mess in the morning. Give it 4 to 6 weeks and your friend will be suprised at what a change there will be.

Would it help to ensure feeding earlier in the evening, or maybe less in the evening, as 4 poohs overnight seems quite a lot No????
