Hi guy's, I came across a site that we should all be concerned about (not the site - rather its subject!), unfortunately my first attempt at a link didn't work - Say no to puppy farms by signing this on line petition!

I know what your saying! But we have to do our bit - like you say it might help...I cant believe I am still coming across people who dont know what a puppy farm is! We can promote a message that will hopefully stop people buying from these vile places...:(
i couldnt agree with you more, there is one not far from where i live, but people still go and buy from there which really dont help.

Unbelievable...And very very annoying - Another argument for researching thoroughly for suitable breeders and getting relevant health checks carried out. We have to promote the good breeding techniques and put the bad out of business....If only it were that simple. My puppy wont be born until end of November and wont come home until January, I could burst with excitement every time I think about it! But I wouldn't of done it any other way, and that way is to select a good breeder who showed very high standards of care, welfare and concern for where her pup's are going.

Couldn't agree with you more.!! I've been waiting over a year for my next pup, and I wouldn't have it any other way. As they say "The best things in life come to those who wait". You'll get yours before me, mines not due till about Crufts time.

I found another petition about banning the sale of puppies by a dealer which would also help I would have thought that as puppy farmers predominantly sell via these methods that it would hit them where it hurt!

The saynotopuppyfarms site came into being because the Welsh Assembly have decided that farmers can be awarded grants to help breed puppies (as part of a package of grants to help them with diversification after the foot and mouth crisis). A petition was handed in to the Welsh Assembly today with over 15,000 signatures. This is the main aim of that site as it was decided that the whole puppy farm issue was too big too tackle in itself (especially all at once). Saynotopuppyfarms will continue until the Welsh Assembly get rid of this grant.

yes I've signed on the sites - I still can't believe that people would rather buy their puppy from one of these unscrupulous people, rather than seek out a caring breeder, who wants the best home possible for their puppy - it's bizzare :(

Puppy farms should be banned, sometimes the buyer is fooled into thinking that there buying from a proper breeder , i dont think this should be allowed!
If they cant ban all the puppy farms then they should put a hefty fine on any puppy farm thats found to be breeding bad quality pups or not stating that they are a mass dog breeder!
I think its going to be a hard job how ever they want to go about getting rid or cleaning these farms up!
I've had some correspondence with one of the Welsh Assembly Members about this issue.
In the latest letter I was told that the two farmers who have been granted aid 'have assessed the market for pedigree dogs and identified that there is a demand'
Well that has certainly reassured me (!!) What a load of **** !

We organised the demo against the Ass. decision which was held on 23rd Sept. After calling on the Chairperson of the All Party Animal Welfare Group (who was dancing up at an Assembly room) some AMs did join us to add their support We hope to organise a united demo day at the end of November incorporating groups in areas of complaint against dealers and pet shops. Would like some feedback if you are interested.
