Hi, I took Baillie for his booster today and was quite proudly telling the vet and her asst, that we were getting a Dane puppy in a fortnight, they both looked at each other a little startled, concerned by my choice of mate for Baillie, and advised me strongly to say the least, that I should be very cautious with Baillie being around the Dane. She said that Danes are natural hierarchs (sp) and that I have to be very vigilant about the Dane's behaviour towards him
We went to visit a lot of Dane's before deciding to take the plunge and there was never a problem between him or them. I must admit to feeling a little stressed, as it gets closer to bringing Diesel home, just about how he and Baillie are going to get along, but as I started to tell myself it was going to be great - they say this - Are they being a bit over dramatic? Obviously, I need to establish the pack order in the first place and stick with it....Anything else that would help I'd appreciate it.

I haven't met a vet yet who is familiar/experienced with Danes. Willis and Phoebe get on well and Willis never challenges Phoebe's top-bitch status - male Danes go for the easy life :) Chill :)

Hiya - I was just about to email you - Just the thing to tell me ehh :D
Like I needed to hear that - it wasn't so much what they said, rather than the horrified look they had, that I would even consider getting a...Great Dane :D
