My 13 month Dalmatian is killing my grass where she goes for a Pee

Can anybody suggest something before I have no lawn left.

There are several alternatives. You can watch where she pees and immediately afterwards thoroughly water the grass to dilute the urine. You could also grow "replacement" grass in seedtrays, so that you can dig out the dead grass and replace it with fresh. Or you can do what I do, and leave it. Trust me, the grass will grow back greener than before once the chemicals have neutralised. It may take 6 months, but it will. I have 2 dalmatian bitches, and my lawn is also spotted - but the position of the dead spots changes as the old ones 'heal' and new ones develop.

The bitches aren't as bad as the dogs - all the foliage on every plant below about 15" is scorched from where they cock their legs - and they 'mark' on the lawn as well!

You have to be very careful what you give to dalmatians. They are very prone to urinary trouble, so you don't want to mess around with the composition of their urine.

I have read old wives tales about giving your dog tomato juice, it nuetralises the acid in the urine. I haven't tried this because my lawn gets trashed by my spaniels and the dead grass is the least of my worries.

There is a herbal remedy which can be added to your dogs food to neutralise the acidity - can't remember the name of it though - can anyone remember?

I cant remember the name either even though I tried it for 3 months and it made no difference to my brown patches!!

The other one you can buy is Green-Um. you can get it in tablet form to give to the dog or liquid form to pour on the grass after doggy has had a tiddle ( cant think how you can follow them round all day !)

I used this and had an 80% improvement.

thankfully my boy has started cocking his leg and the patches are fewer now so I will just tolerate them!
