When i worked at my local boarding kennels i always advised people to get kongs and stuff them with food to keep dogs amused, after 4 years of owing my own dogs i have just bought some kongs, mainly because my bitch that i have just mated wouldnt eat properly, i decided that using a kong might get her interested in eating again, as it was something different, which it has.
As Jack has made one of the three kongs mysterisly disappear i need to get another one, but i would also like some ideas on what to put inside, any ideas?

can dogs eat raw or uncooked meat?? (sorry to barge in on someones post)

There is a salmonella/e-coli risk with raw meat. We never really know just how fresh it is these days.

Lets face it, years ago the "Family Butcher" called twice a week. We knew the area the meat came from, often the farm, almost the cow!!! These days in general the meat comes from the supermarket and we never know when it was killed and in a lot of cases we dont even know the country of origin! This is progress?

Chopped carrot is a winner for mine, so is brocolli florets.

Favouite flavour of yoghurt is popular.

You can fill with chicken stock and freeze or add stock ice cubes on hot days.

Oh - perhaps I have a dog who thinks he's a rabbit!

Have you tried wholemeal bread?

I could not live without my kongs, my spaniels go nuts for bread so I layer bread with cheese, or schmackos etc. The bread squashes in nice and tight and makes it last longer. Their favourite is chicken liver pate sandwiches chopped up small and stuffed tight into a kong - but they only get that when my husband makes fresh pate.

That cheese in a tube mixed with crushed gravy bones, hot dog nuggets and bits of savers ham goes down well here. Ive also used cold scrambled egg which is satisfyingly messy, and squished pilchards - I must love my dog!:D
