we have a 6 year old english bull terrier(brindle)who has a habbit of chewing the skin off his back leg pad.we rescued him from a dogs home and have managed to sort out his bowl problems he had by feeding him the correct food, but ever since we have had him he wont stop knawing at his back paw.we tried a special collar for a week and it cleared up but as soon as we took this off the next day he bit the skin off the same pad, hope you guys can help,

many thanks ,andy

Have you mentioned this problem to the vet Andy ? We have just taken Gus as he was excessively licking one of his paws and he mentioned it was dermatitis ???

we took him to the vet last time and he gave him antibiotics, the dog had been in contact with cement dust at my father in laws and come to think of it has been there once again in the last three weeks.

If you have to take him there I would make a point of thoroughly washing and drying his paws afterwards just in case and see if this eliminates the problem :)

Edited just to mention bathing the affected paw in salt water to prevent infection through the broken skin .
