Hi, my 14 week old stafff pup is always lively and bright. He did have an upset tummy recently but after reading some posts on this site I found it to be the rawhide chew I had given him. I am now concerned because he has what looks like green pus coming out of the end of his penis, not loads but occasionally I see some. Does this warrant a trip to the vets or will it right itself? Any suggestions will be gratefully read. Thanx.

No this is normal in a male pup, it is his hormones sorting out the system and by the time he is about 18 months old he will be a fully grown male dog all ready and working should he ever be allowed to try and father a litter. It will do him no harm at all if you chose not to let him ever use the equipment that is being primed for adulthood now.

No, all male pups have a slight discharge from the penis. As long as it isn't excessive or unpleasantly smelly, don't worry about it.

Hee, glad you told us this. I've never kept a male before and although I've had dogs all my life I worry about every little thing, it's so funny. It's amazing how having a male makes you check that his bits are allright, ooh, is one smaller than the other, oh is that right. My poor lad must be sick of me as I think I'm a bit paranoid!! I don't remember being this bad with my girls.
