Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / border collie problems?
- By guest [gb] Date 20.09.03 18:52 UTC
I have a border collie, he is approx 10 yrs old, please can someone who may know advise me on a problem he has. Basically recently he has been passing quite a bit of blood in his urine, it has been on and off for a few months but he has not been bothered by it. In the last three days though he has cried and winced when he tries to pass stools. Now when he is trying ha can't. His movement and general mood is fine though maybe just a little subdued. I felt under his back leg near his back passage and he snapped at me.
Any urgent replies will be very welcome. Please by mail to houghbong@ntlworld.com
many thanks.

Get an emergency appointment with the vet as soon as you possibly can. Your dog is in a lot of distress and needs proper medical treatment NOW. There are many things it could be, and several are potentially life-threatening.

GET ON THAT PHONE

i have just spoken to a vet who thinks he might have a blockage, the vet reckons that it might sort itself out naturally, and the funny thing is that the dog does not seem out of sorts at all, normal appetite, running about as much as normal etc etc.
what do you think?

It could be something much more serious that a blockage that will clear itself & it cannot be diagnosed over the phone-in a border collie male of this age it could be very very serious he needs to be seen as soon as possible

I think if that dog isn't physically examined soon you may lose him.

Your call.
