Hi all,
wheres the cheapest place to buy wormers.I usually use Drontal purchased from my vet but wondered of theres a cheaper way of going about it?Also does anyone use any different wormers and why?? I find drontal makes my youngest dog sick so wondered if changing brands may be better.
Thanks Archer

Hi Archer,
I use Four-Seasons from Stock Nutrition, as it's totally natural. I won't give my dogs any chemicals!!

Hi
I've had some Four Seasons delivered this week, as I want to try something non chemical, too. Are you pleased with it?
Also bought some Thornit, which seems to have worked already...(grass mite season,) and some Natural Pain relief for my oldie called Salixea. Anyone tried this?

Hi Sami.
Yes, I'm very pleased with the Four Seasons. I've been using it for about a year now on all my dogs, and have had no worm probs at all.
But you need to use it once a month instead of every three months.
What's Thornit? I've not tried Salixea either! I tend to use Arnica for bangs, strains etc. My G.S pulled a muscle in her leg last year, and after taking her to the vet, all they could offer was Metacalm, which I don't like using, as it can cause stomach ulcers. I gave her a couple of doses of Arnica over the next couple of days and she was fine.
I also use Dynamite, from the same company to prevent fleas, and that seems to work great as well.

Hi
Thornit is powder for ears, and harvest mites. Itching, head shaking, and paw nibbling. It smells like a dentists for a few days, but the ears are lovely and clean, and the scratching's gone, so I think it's worked. If you put THORNIT in Search on here, it will come up with a lot of recommendations for it. (I'd never heard of it before...this forum's great for new ideas!!)

Salixia ( I spelt it wrong in original reply!!):D
is made from Apium Seed, Star of Anise (?), Devil's Claw, Rhus Tox in a cider vinegar base...smells like chips!! Supposed to be anti inflamatory pain relief and also helps urinary tract. Giving it a go anyway....coincidentaly the oldie has stopped peeing in her sleep the last week...in fact has been completely dry......but I'm not counting my chickens yet!! These drops are so much easier to give than tablets.

Hi there I found www.wormers.co.uk the cheapest for what I wanted especially if you buy in bulk postage is free and delivery was fast their 100ml Drontal puppy is around £3.00 cheaper than vetmedic and 20 Drontal tablets are £6.00 cheaper, but I do think indiviual tablets are cheaper from vetmedic it depends how many you want worth a look though.

hi

try panacur sachets from the vet ,not as expensive as drontal and won't make them sick.

Must say Panacur gave my Golden very bad diahorrea every time, yet she's fine on Drontal. Guess all dogs are different :)

I have started giving a natural wormer which also helps the digestion.
It's just a tspn or 1/2 tspn, depending on the size of dog, mixed in the food daily. It's called Wormguard Plus and can be given to cats too.
It's available on www.simplyk9.co.uk
They have a lot of products including complementary remedies and are really helpful.

I get mine from the Furry Pharmacy www.furrypharm.co.uk , they seem to be the cheapest in the UK at the moment. No problems with delivery either, v nice to deal with! Sally

get my wormers from greece.same ingredients and dosage as drontal + but only about 70p per tablet delivered to the door.infact it was someone on here that put me on to them.my mates have been using 4 seasons for about 6 or 7 months now and are really happy.their dogs are lurchers and catch a lot of rabbits so have a chance of a higher worm burden than most.

I use milbemax, it is a broad spectrum wormer similar to drontal, but only needs one pill about the same size as drontal for dogs of average size. There is bigger one for extra large doggies. A lot of dogs seem to be sick with drontal too.
- By satincollie (Moderator) Date 11.11.04 20:08 UTC
Be careful giving Milbemax to collies as it is from the same family of drugs as Ivermectin. Gillian
