Hi, one of my pups came back to me at a year old, we were going to re home him but couldnt in the end. We have his father and brother and also 2 others , the problem is with his brother and father we have fights throughout the day and constant scent marking, this has been for a few months, they are all intact, should I consider neutering them, any advice would be really appreciated. Also they ae all Shih Tzus .

They are probably trying to establish their position within their doggie hierachy. Please, whatever you do don't castrate all of them, as this will do nothing to alter their position relative to each other - and the fights will continue. Personally I think I would leave things for a while (with careful management to ensure the Father and brother #1 don't do each other any harm) as you've recently added another factor in the other brother - and in a few months reasses the situation, perhaps with the help of a UKRCB, APDT or APBC member, to asses which dog (if any) should be castrated - it will normally be the lower ranking one. The reason behind this is that sometimes two dogs are just too 'alike' - it often happens with Father and son, or two brothers, and their disagreements never get settled as both think they have the same sort of position in the pack - dogs are far happier when each one has it's own 'level' - by castrating the lower one you reduce it's status, and make the differences more clear cut.
