I have a litter of week-oldpuppies, 3 of which are gold and white parti-coloured. The other two are dark, and are 'dappled' black or dark brown with a red colour. What will they look like when they grow up and is there a name for this colour? Are these very unusual? One parent is balck and white part-, the other is all gold.)

what breed are they.

I agree, it sounds like it's cockers and it sounds like a parti X solids mating hence the odd colours - but we need to know for sure. "Guest" please tell so we can help.

Well if they are Cockers (English as opposed to Yankees), they can't be in this country as the "dappled" colour sounds like sables & we don't have any in the UK (as far as I know)
Come on guest, put us out of our misery :-)

Guest is spelling colour as colour and not color so I'm deducing they are in the UK therefore I reckon the colours described must be American Cocker.. Simple dear Watson :)

Sorry Isabel - I might be a bit thick but don't follow your reasoning here - if they are UK based aren't they more likely to be English rather than American Cockers - if they are Cockers at all that is?

Now pay attention Watson. In America the puppies could be English or American as these colours occur there in both breeds but if we decide guest is in UK due to their spelling they must be American Cockers as there are no English Cocker dapples in the UK. Pure speculation but I hope my reasoning makes sense now :) I hope guest puts us out of our misery soon.

I think Dizzy is on the right track - the more I think about it, the more these sound like Llasa Apso pups. American Cocker breeders don't use the term "gold & white" but Llasa breeders do, they don't have solid golds either but Llasa breeders do.. don't know what the "dapple" colour could be though maybe they are grizzles - it's anyone's guess unless "guest" lets us in on the secret :-)
