My 1 yr old ESS(castrated) has started to bark and jump up at me if my husband shows me ANY physical affection! He doesnt seem to mind the children touching me. Is this normal or is it a problem that needs sorting? Thanks :-)

Well if it is a problem then it needs sorting, if you don't mind then that is fine, I take it he is just wanting attention and not being aggressive, he is behaving in a puppish manner but may not grow out of it, so if you don't like, don't allow.

Thanks Jackie, no he is not being aggressive, just like one of the children really - attention seeking!

Mine also does this. But not the actual barking. She is 15 months old, and any cuddle and she has to be in the middle, or a kiss will often find her putting her nose in between if allowed. The barking may be that she feels she is protecting you. Try and reassure her that is ok and that he is allowed to cuddle?? Not sure if that will help but worth a try!!!

Our young beardie does the same, complete with high pitched yelppy barking.
We've interpreted it much the same as Brinny. We just quietly tell him it's ok and he quickly lies down and watches instead of trying to join in the hug!
Our pointer does it too so he gets told to sit and wait his turn and when he is on 4 feet he gets attention. His Dad tells him " this not your bitch, this MY bitch" and he understnads.:)
