My golden retriever of 14 months has started to grow a few black hairs on her back. Can anybody explain why or suggest what i should do as i would like to show her.

Hi,

Your golden retriever is definately unsuitable for showing if it has black hair comming through.
I would get in touch with your breeder and seek her advice especially about showing.
Not alot else you can do?
If your that serious about showing you may have to get another Golden.
See what your breeder says.

Briony :-)

In my opinion, if it is just a few hairs, it shouldn't stop you showing. It is a fault, but a pretty minor one (no pun intended). After all, I didn't think that showing was only about winning top honours!! But then, perhaps it is for some people.

what a shame...it would be utterly ridiculous and pompous if that stopped you showing (although..i dont know how many "a few" is).
Cant you pluck them out? :)
