Hi all
My daughters Staffie bitch, who is 5 months old, constantly chases her tail.
Is this a common problem and can this be stopped.
My daughter has two young children who play with her and she has plenty of toys to chew.
Thanks
Shaz

Hi,

Tail chasing can either be a fun thing your dog has learned to do, or can be a "displacement" behaviour, which basically means your dog is frustrated or stressed and this is a means of making him/her feel better.

Do you provide lots of toys and stimulation for her, Staffies are an intelligent breed and enjoy learning things, so need to be kept occupied. Do you attend training classes?

It may also be linked to discomfort from teething, or anal glands (although unlikely to be that at this age)
