Hi i have posted here before about my puppy Star a yellow lab She had been sick and diarrhoea. The vet gave her antibiotics and after a couple of weeks on bland food, this has cleared up. however when she was examining her she noticed a green pus on her vulva. When she went back yesterday for her 2nd innoculation,it was still there and she said it was vaginitis She has given me a 10 day course of Synolux to be started next week, but has said that if this does not clear up,then she will have to have a first season before she can be spayed.I dont really want this as I have never had a bitch in season before. Is there anything else I can do ,as they seem to think that even the antibiotics won't clear it up.

Have you tried live yoghurt ? It is supposed to be good for human ladies for problems like cystitis. Don't know if it would do any good in this case, but it is good for dogs anyway :)

Hi

I am sure it will clear up ! Poor girl has had a rough time !

It is always advisable to spay after a pup has had a season rather than before she has had one.

It isn't so bad. It will last for three weeks and she will have a swollen vulva and will bleed not too much hopefully. You will need to make sure she is not let out un attended and take her for walks if possible where other dogs will not be, preferably take her out in the car to somewhere but always on a lead !

You can then get her spayed about two to three months after that.

my pup has vaginitus too shes had 2 courses of synulux and then a different antibotic still had it so she had a vaginal swab done ,and after all that i was given the same advice as you from the specialist to let her have a season cos that usually clears it up,the only other treatment on offer was vaginal washes ,or a different drug but not recommended to puppies as it yellows the teeth ,anyway shes still got it but it does'nt bother her .
