You will have to use your best judgement. How big are the classes? Does the 'competition' consistently do well at other shows (ie are the dogs' names always in the judges' critiques in the dog papers?). It may be that your pup is 'okay but nothing to write home about' from the showing point of view. There's no shame in that - we all have our 'passengers', but we don't love them any less!

Thing is do you show because you and the dog enjoy it or because you want to win. Even if you are only interested in winning then it would still be worth carring on to learn the best way to show your breed and to find out where your dogs falls short, that will help you when you buy another one to show. It is the way most of us start. Show a dog that is not up to scratch and get hooked, then look for another pup and show with better results.

I agree with Jackie - do it because you enjoy getting out with your dog, don't give a stuff about anyone else. As for the people who tell you to stop - they should take note of the people they pass on the way up... as they're sure to pass them on the way down!!! There's too many "serious" showing people out there... just go and enjoy the day out with your dog.

Good Luck

Remember you always take the best dog to the show and you also always bring the best dog home with you. Its the judge who doesnt realise that!!!!!
