Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / sexy blanket!
- By TracyL [gb] Date 14.09.03 07:43 UTC
Oh dear. Spare my blushes. Sparky has fallen madly (and very demonstrably) in love with his blanket (which is admittedly rather attractive). He has so far not displayed any of these tendencies with anything (or anyone) else, but I wonder if other things are going to soon become the object of his desire.

What is the general consensus on neutering these days? (not that I would rush into it just cos of a bit of humping, but is this the start of outright "maleness"?) He's only 4 months now!

Thanks in advance
Tracy.

My advice would be to ignore it! It's a normal phase which he may well grow out of. The only time to tell him to stop it, and put him in his bed to 'cool down' is if he starts humping people's legs etc. His blanket doesn't object, I'm sure. ;)

If you don't like him doing it tell him to stop! Take the blanket away and give him something else to play with. He is a dog, you will not do him any harm at all by telling him NO ;-)

take the blanket away--------and if he ever tries it on with anyones leg. leave him in no doubt its not acceptable, by leaving the blanket down its going to become a habit !

I know exactly how you feel!

My 20 week old GSP has a similarily embarassing problem at the moment.

Whenever he meets anyone, or gets any kind of attention, he gets, well, "excited".

The thing is, it is really evident and most embarassing.

Its quite difficult to describe the extent of this problem without bordering on lewdness!

Short of spraying ice cold water on his "problem" I have no idea how to prevent it, if at all possible.

This is NORMAL  He will grow out of it. Just ignore it!

My 13yr old lab "loved" his duvet bed so much I sewed up holes several times.

Its a boy, what do you expect, just worry when you find dirty mags hidden under it :D

I don't think milo who's 2 and a half will ever grow out of his humping duvet.he's just gone to live with my friend, and taken the blanket with him, and apparently he is humping it all the time!!:)
