Can anyone give me info on why a dog licks paws/pads excessively . She licks one especially alot but when i have looked i cannot see anything there ( like thorn, stone, glass etc) . I am worried she will make her pad sore with all the licking . The pads arent cracked or that and look perfectly normal . Should i see the vet or is it all normal ? I need a bit of help i think as i am unsure
Thankyou for listening

Some dogs lick themselves when they are in discomfort somewhere else (often anal glands), or maybe it's become a learnt behaviour because their owner pays attention to them (even if it is to be told off :( ) Best bet is to see a vet to ensure it's not medical, then to distract her from it, clap your hands, call her to you, then ask her to sit - and reward her for sitting. If you keep this up often enough it should break the habit.

It could well be a food allergy, I had a dog that done exactly the same thing licking & chewing his paws, so I changed his diet and he has been fine ever since. He has not done it any more since.so I would change the diet.
