I just lost my wonderful collie of 10years old from congestive heart failer. How common is it in dogs or Collies. I feel she was to young to pass away from this could I have done something to prevent this problem? I miss and loved her so much!!!!!!!!

Sorry to hear you lost your dog. Heart problems are very common in older dogs of any breed or crossbreed. You could not of prevented it, I lost a dog to it several years back at 12yrs, what matters is your dog was loved and cared for, that would of meant everything to her.

You obviously loved her very much. Its very sad and seems unfair but as with humans, dog's do suffer from 'conditions' - I was speaking to someone once who told me her pup had a heart murmur and that it could cause pup problems in later life. The pup was born with its heart and nothing will ever change that. You had 10 wonderful years with your collie and you will never forget her. Please dont beat yourself up.
