I have a litter of 3 week old puppies that are doing really well (cradle cap completely gone now) but one bitch puppy is constantly wet with urine down her back legs. The mother cleans them all equally but this one is soon wet again. I am not sure if she is constantly dribbling or not, has anyone come across this before ? is it likely to improve as she gains more bladder/sphincter control. I would be grateful for any useful advice.

I have had a leaky puppy she had an inverted vulva sometimes it goes ok when they have their first season but otherwise its an operation, you need to keep the area as dry as possible obviously when off the mum,My puppy went ok when her first season came

i bought a puppy in that soon after buying it i noticed the same as youve discribed, as it was a rottie it was very obvious because of its size ,when i took her to the vets they did tests and found that the tube that leads to the [it was either the kidneys or the bladder] wasnt attatched, she sadly had to be pts, i hope its not the same thing with yours, but bear it in mind

is your bitch still licking them to urinate.
Sometimes bitch licks at this age but do"s not always tidy up.
some of your pups may wee to order the one in question may wait a while till wee wee, i would not worry just yet wait a while.

Hi there, one of my wolfhound pups had this problem, hopefully yours is a different outcome to mine, but I strongly suggest you visit the vets asap.
The pups urethra( hope that is spelt right) had by passed the bladder and went straight into the vulva, hence a constantly wet pup.
I am not sure how old your pup is, but mine was diagnosed at five weeks of age. Apparently an operation can be performed and if successful, the dog will be "normal" again. However, even on a breed as large as a wolfhound, the op. could not be done till the pup was 12 weeks of age. Sadly my little girl, Keira, suddenly developed blood poisoning, and had to be pts. Looking on the bright side, yours might be something different, and as this was a few years ago, they may be able todo the operation earlier now. Whatever, the outcome, do get your pup checked asap, and I wish you all the luck in the world with her.

thats what happened to the one i bought in, the breeder having the whole litter there hadnt noticed that there was excessive pee, they where reared outside, it wasnt until i got her home, at night pups here sleep in a cage, and in the morning the bedding and papers where dripping pee, thats when i knew i had a problem ,the only thing id noticed at the breeders house when i picked her was that she seemed to pee a lot, i thought i just must of forgot how much a puppy piddled, when your pups a touch older try seperating it for a short while and see how wet it gets then
