Hello
My parents have retired recently and bought a Golden Ret.Puupy male who is 14 weeks old. He is quite a shy dog, and seems to cower away from us if we try to stroke him, although he will follow you around and play etc.
Could someone please tell me when it would be okay to take him for a short walk, my mum tried this morning, but he didn't seem to like the lead being on and promptly sat down and wouldn't budge, although with a bit of encouragement he did walk a little way.
Thanks
Tracy
try putting his lead on indoors and the garden for short periods of time,
each day, i did this with my lab puppy and now he knows what its for theres no stopping him,
has he been vaccinated.

Thanks for that, we thought he might be scared of the lead! He has had all of his jabs, also the last retriever we had was more boisterous than this one at his age, he seems alot quieter, is this normal for a dog his age. mind you i suppose all dogs are different.
Thanks
Tracy
i havent got alot of experience with labs myself,
but i did this with my lab and it worked,
my lab is very happy and boisterous, i would take him to vets for a health check,
i took Toby its just peace of mind.
