Topic Dog Boards / General / Puppy Talk.....Again!!

Hi Guys,
Finally seen my puppy yesterday - he is utterly gorgeous! :)
It was a really long journey to go down and visit, but it was so worth it.
Now I just have to decide what we're going to call him, as all the rest of the puppies have names..except him!
So what do you all think, it seems to be between Drey, Floyd, Bo or Diesel.
He comes home with us on October 11th - 4 weeks on Saturday......not that I'm counting or anything :) :)

I love Bo and I love Diesel... brill names for a dane - especially Diesel :)

How in love are you? Wouldn't you like a wickle willis to go with dinky diesel? :D
- By liberty Date 11.09.03 22:11 UTC
I like Floyd and Diesel, one things for sure though, you could call him anything and he'll still be your gorgeous pup :)

Thanks Guys
I am so in love.. I'm sure that I'm driving everyone mad with my puppy pictures and name thinking - the guys at work are going to have a sweepstake if I don't hurry up and make up my mind :) :)
Chloe - Sorry I missed Wills TV debut this morning :( Completely forgot about it - I'd love to see a copy on video if anyone has it.
Liberty - Thanks those two are my faves as well - maybe I should just stick 'em in a hat and choose one!!

OMG...you have to go for Diesel!! It's a great name!

Actually, I'm being really pathetic....when I was a baby (long long time ago) my Dad used to call me Diesel because I wouldn't sleep, unless I was in his old diesel van.
It's stuck.....so I'm now called Diesel by every member of my family. I just don't know a dog named it yet :(

Take care and have fun with the little one.

Hiya Lisa,
I don't think he'll be too little for long :)
But I will definately enjoy him! LOL at images of you in your dad's old van - if it's anything like my hubby's van - you'd have needed a gas mask to get to sleep!! :D Murray thinks that a magic tree solves all :) :)
I will keep you posted if I go for Diesel or Floyd!!
Cheers

Hiya Sharon,

I think thats what it was....the diesel fumes nearly killed me!!!.....but Mom and Dad were just happy I was asleep!! I was a difficult baby apparently!! (hope your pup is not the same!)

It's awful with the larger breeds isn't it? they're not small for long!! I have 3 GSD pups at the moment, and they're getting bigger and stronger by the day...it's hard work...gotta love 'em though!!

Take care

Diesel (aka Lisa!!)

Hi Lisa - I think the whisky in the bottle helped me :)
Are these puppies that your bitch has had or have you bought them?
I love German Shepherds - they're gorgeous. How much of a handful will 3 be???

Diesel is a cute name.

Charlie24 - Are you any further forward with your puppy yet?
When are you going to go see them? Still going to wait and see which puppy picks you?

Hi Sharon thank you for asking we have to wait 2 or 3 weeks now before we can see them due to infections, i got over excited and thought we could go straight away, we are no further forward in choosing a sex but i think the breeder needs to know regarding selling the last pup, but it's so hard..
- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 11.09.03 23:34 UTC
I know - it is difficult and what everyone says about letting the puppy choose you is great - providing you have the time and that there are enough puppies to give you that choice!
Is the breeder down to the last puppies and asking you to make a choice re the sex now?
Sharon
- By charlie24 [gb] Date 11.09.03 23:41 UTC
Apparantley yes, but i suppose it is worth asking if we can wait till we see them, but i can also see it from the breeders point of view,
- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 11.09.03 23:48 UTC
Yeah - I can see it from their point of view as well - obviously if they have someone wanting a specific sex puppy and then they have you - not sure of which sex you want - they obviously have to make the decision. I have a friend who recently got a lab puppy, a dog, who had previously only ever had bitches. They too were off the opinion that bitches were more loyal than dogs, but now they have a dog, they can't see it now. So it just shows you, loyalty is more about how you bring the puppy up, regardless of sex, just my opinion though, I'm sure whatever you get, will be great :)

I know which ever will be great but we would like to go on personality, we were the second people to put deposit on a pup but now all of a sudden they have all been sold, so we are having to make a decision.
- By charlie24 [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:00 UTC
How did you decide with your first pup?
- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:05 UTC
Well when we decided that we wanted a golden retreiver, we found a very good breeder, who had been recommended by our vet - She had two puppies available, Baillie and his sister. I went with an open mind although I'd never had a bitch - but he came bounding over to see us and I instantly fell in love with him - and that was that - I was smitten :)
I remember asking her if I should bring a box to take him home in and she started to laugh - and asked me what size I thought that he'd be - and when I went to get him - he was hanging over a baby gate in her lounge with his big paws lolling over the top of it! He's quite big for a goldie - he was almost white - gorgeous! :)
- By charlie24 [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:08 UTC
We are hoping for a pale retriever do you have any pics of yours?
- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:11 UTC
I have loads - but don't ask me to send them - because I wouldn't know where to start
I'm going to invest in a digital camera and I'll send you some then.
Baillie is six now and he only really darkened down his back, the rest of him is still very pale! Even harder to keep clean :)
- By charlie24 [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:18 UTC
Ahhhh bless as soon as you figure it out i would love to see the pics, i have my aunties golden retriever meg on my website which is on my profile, if i could dog nap her i would she is so cheeky.
- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 12.09.03 00:22 UTC
She is - I was just having a little look at your page there! I wouldn't know where to start with that either :)
I guess technology and me just never caught up :) Anyway I can't believe the time - I'm off to bed!!

A local lady to me has a 12 week old retriever that is VERY pale and she is gorgeus!! Maise the pup that is not the lady although she is nice as well!!! Her old retriever passed away earlier this summer - Funny how I know the dogs names of all the people we cross paths with but not their owners isnt it !!

- By bailliesmum [gb] Date 12.09.03 19:12 UTC
Hi Jude,
I do that too - you recognise the dogs before their owners - that's a bit weird isn't it!
Then again - some of the dogs are nicer than some of the people!!!
