and i would like to look at poss showing him,
what age does the showing start 6 months ??
what are the different class ?
how much to enter your dog into a show,?
training to show at these shows, what is required,
must say thou nether been to a show, watch crufts on tv for a few mins(terriers)

Find a Ringcraft class in your area and once your puppy can go out take him to the class where you will be shown how to show him and answers to all the rest of your questions. You then spend about 3 months practicing with him and when he is 6 months he can go to his first show.

You can find classis advertised in vets and pet food shops or you can ask there, also if you write to the Kennel Club they will send you a list.

Good luck, hope you enjoy, Oh and don't forget to ask the pups breeder if they live near they will help you too.

thank you jackie
that should get me started,i have a older bitch you is 18 months, not train for the ring ,with work could she be showed,if so what class

Theres no reason why your older bitch shouldn't be shown as long as she's KC reg.Take her to ring craft and get her used to standing'moving at the correct pace and being gone over. What class depends on what type of show.If you start with an open show you will probably find she will be in open(any dog). There may be a class for post grad or limit which are classes that you can enter until your dog has won a certain number of first prizes a shows.Champ shows have a wider variety of classes and she you may find a class for novice bitches.
As for cost that depends again on type of show.Open shows are usually cheap and chearful with classes at around £3 per entre.Champshos are more expensive ranging from about £15 per class entree to £22 ish.You sometimes have to pay parking and then have to add travel expenses on top of that.Catalogues must be prepayed at about £5.I recon an a champ show costing me £100+ all inclusive(2 dogs)

Its a wonderful day out-lets face it most of us do it for the day out not for the win!!(although winning or being placed in good competition is very nice!!)
I go to look a beautiful dogs, socialise with like minded people and enjoy the competition-whatever the outcome.
BE WARNED-its very addictive!!! I started with one show dog and doing 3/4 champ shows ayear (+ 6/8 open shows) now doing twice as many shows with 2 dogs, and another dog on the way and I'm still getting withdrawal symptons when I haven't done a show for a couple of weeks!!
Good luck-lets us know how you get on

wow,that many shows,
i was just thinking as i was reading your post, thinking i'll not do that many shows with three dogs ?? ,i was only thinking of the one stafford maybe two lol, then thought i ve said before "oh just one or two shows "or "just the one dog" and ill bet quite afew on here have too..
think i need to go to a show first ,to see all these beautiful dogs,(esp staffords) get the feel of it so to speak ,...right where the next show lol lol,

Hi

Where in West Yorkshire are you? There are a number of good ringcraft classes in the area - Pudsey and District (Leeds), West Riding (Bradford), Huddersfield etc. Can give you contacts and some more information if you email me privately. My email is in my profile. After today I will be away until the end of the week so it may be next weekend but it will be a fwe weeks before your pup is old enough to go anyway!

All the best
Janet

thanks lynn,
i dont think im going to beable to attend much more,as when hubby goes to iraq i will have no-one to look after the kids(i will never take them again after they decided copying the dogs at a match was funny(well it was actually but didnt do me any good))
i think it will be garden training from now on until hubby returns
