Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / EARLY SEASON HELP PLEASE !!!!!
- By guest [gb] Date 11.09.03 14:39 UTC
I have just aquired a beautiful and loyal staffie x pit pup little girl she's just under 4 months old, I already have a 6yr old castrated male (same breed) who is full of personality and is as gentle as a lamb. We love them both dearly and they love one another.
My question is :- what is the earliest anyone has ever known a bitch come into season, my pup is 4 months old, and her back end is starting to swell, I know this sounds daft, but my Dobermann bitch (whom I sadly lost last year at the age of 17) was only 5 months old when she came into season for the first time, and having a male dog in the house although castrated, I don't want him to start getting 'fresh' with her, he's just under 90lb in weight and could do her a lot of damamge if he tried to mount her.
Could it be that weight could be an issue, as the pup is crossed with an american pit she's larger than the average staffie.
I would appreciate any advice on this subject, I shall also request the help of my local vet. thanks !!!
