hi all
a friend of mine has lost her dogs papers, the dog is now coming up 6 months and she has started looking for shows to enter him in to and she has just (TODAY) noticed that she cannot find his papers. She has only been in this house for about 3 weeks and she has not put every thing away yet. :D
what happens if she can never find them? she has phoned the man she bought the dog off but he was not the breeder and he will not help :(
she has phoned the KC and they said that they must have the dogs KC number to help her. What can she do
HELP

As long as she knows the registered name of the dog, and it is registered to her, and she has the names of the dam and sire, she will beable to enter shows. She needs to know the breeders name too.
If she knows the date of birth someone could, if they would be kind enough, to look in the breed records, and try to find which litter and the breeder.

If she knows the dogs registered name the KC can give her the details, I needed my dogs KC numbers to enter them Not for competition at an obedience show I rang the KC gave them the dogs names & got the KC numbers took about 3 minutes in total ! I was most impressed

hi both
thank you for the reply's. i didn't think that it would be a problem, i will tell her to give the KC a ring again and give them her KC name.
i only thought that it was a problem as about a 2 years ago i went to see a litter of Napoleon mastiffs with a friend, we only went to see them because they were only going for about 300 pounds (friend always wanted one but could not afford one) we talked to the breeder for well over a 1 hour and he said the only reason they did not have Kc paper's was because he could not find the mothers papers, and so could not register the puppies. Now seeing that it is so easy to get her number off the KC i am glad that my friend did not have a pup of this man

Yes like the other post you can get a copy has long has you have the KC name and have transfered the dog over to your name.
The other thing about the mastif the breeder not reg the litter because they lost the mothers details its an old trick used by dealers who sale pedigree pups without papers telling the new owners thay the mother is KC reg but lost paper work so cant reg!! the real reason is the bitch has not got any proberly stolon!!!!!! We hear so many dogs being taking and if they steel a dog they would not have papers and mastifs are top of the list.

hi kennelsitter
well, i am glad that me friend did not have a puppy off that breeder but as you can guess at that price he had no trouble getting new homes for them.
my friend phoned the KC today and has sorted it out she will be getting new paper in a few days, and this time she is going to put all the info on her pc so she should remember where it is LOL
Natalie

She will now find the original certificate in a really obvious place lol
