Topic Dog Boards / General / Dog clippers for a poodle
- By Jane Dee [gb] Date 10.09.03 14:56 UTC
I am going to start grooming my own toy poodles (or at least try lol) and so need a pair of decent clippers.

Can anyone please recommend what type of clippers would be good for toy poodles.

Hi I have always used OSTER or THRIVE......their blades are interchangeable and you can get a tiny toe blade for their little feet

Hi,
I was a professional groomer for many years and I would recommend the Oster A-5 SINGLE speed. I would also recommend a #30, or even a #40 blade for feet. It is SO mush easier and cleaner, especially on the tiny feet.
I would also not be without a 7F blade. I find this the most useful all around blade. The clipper will no doubt come with a #10 blade, which is excellent for bellies, "crotch" area, armpits and face.
You CAN use the #10 or 15 for feet, but it is more cimbersome and less thourough, in my opinion.
