Looking for recommendations of companies for a doggie article I am doing. We have our insurance through the Kennel Club but would like to know say what you think the top 3 would be.

Many Thanks
Rachel

Do a search on the Forum here for Insurance ..this has been talked about a lot and you might get some ideas :)

How did I know that was going to be suggested!!!!!

Just done the search and found that Pet Plan was mentioned a couple of times but not one really stood out. I was hoping that you would just put who you were insured with and I can see what was popular by votes :)

Thanks again

I've just cancelled my E&L Insurance, looked around on the net and registered my labs with Domestic and General who seem to be better.I had to shop around though on the net, but d&G seemed v competitive, time will tell though:)

I've been recommended Pet Plan. was going to insure my Basset pup with Argos (£8/month) but sis who worked as Vet ass warned they might only insure for the year, whereas Pet Plan offer cover for life. So, not quite sure what to do now. But when I do finally get round to making the phone call, it'll be either Argos or Pet Plan.

Hi,
Im with pet plan and the good thing with them is that they will pay for a lifetimes illness rather than a max amount or 12 months, whichever comes first.
My dog is epileptic and all it costs me is the £60 excess a year.
Not cheep though, costs me about £26 a month

I have two labs and one is insured with pet healthcare, they have been brilliant have paid out over £5000 last year no problem at all. (well was one problem the treatment cost over £7000 but I had a limit on my insurance of £5000 for any one illness have now learn't my lesson and go unlimited now). Because of this my vet recommended pet plan which is unlimited and will insure for life and they never have a problem with them so the puppy is with them.

PetHealthcare if it's the Henley based one they also do an unlimited policy.
I have the premier plan and mine is upto £7000 per condition.
However my old girl sadly now departed was on the unlimited policy.
I'm More Than happy with them and More Than whom my other dog is insured
with. They are both run by Royal Sunalliance

Gosh I've never met anyone else who was with PetHealthcare in Henley. People mostly look blank when I say who I'm with, quite happy with them and they paid up promptly the one time I've needed them

I'm with PetPlan and they have always been brilliant, one of my dogs has eye problems and needs to see an eye specialist every 6 months, this is covered with them and they have always paid up promptly.

Oh why oh why didn't I read this when you posted this ????

I am also with the KC and assumed it was for life as I didn't take the time to read all the small print !!

Oh well you learn by your mistakes !!

Hi Lucy,
Can you not change to pet-plan, they take dogs at all ages and will cover for life as long as your dog does not already have a condition or illness.
- By Daisychain10370 [gb] Date 22.09.03 15:48 UTC
I'm with Pinnacle they cover for life & are much cheaper than PetPlan for me
- By Melodysk [gb] Date 22.09.03 16:08 UTC
There are a lot of places cheaper than PetPlan ..it is the benefits that are on offer that make you choose one or the other I think :) When I looked into insurance for Hudson after his 6 weeks insurance was finished Petplan was the only company that gave me all the benefits that I wanted to see.

Melody :)
