I am sure you have done it but ring vet

yes i have an appointment at 4pm earliest i could get, getting more worried as she has now been sick a few times and the pooh is total red, and she refuses any food. I am thinking she has got a bug as i don not want to think it is anything too serious

Has she eaten something she shouldn't? One of mine had similar symptoms when she's eaten a sandwich still in the clingfilm , which caused a blockage. Can you get her to drink slightly sweetened water to help her rehydrate?

no she has eaten anything unusual, i have just got a sample for the vet later aswell which is just a jar of mainly blood, so something is going wrong somewhere, but i will try the water, she will drink tiny amounts so i will add a little sugar to help her.
I must admit she is the type of dog that i can tell her to leave it an she will.
Thanks

i did but they still said then only free time is 4pm (as they only have two vets on) not sure if they have more cases of the same. not sure if this has anything to do with it but all her pads are very dry and grey. Not there normal black, but i will check with the vet.
My neighbour has also said that there has been something on central news about dogs and a severe but with smilar symptons to what mines has got, wasn't sure if anyone else had heard about it

THIS IS NOT MEANT TO SCARE YOU I PROMISE BUT IT MIGHT HELP.
sORRY FOR THE CAPS ON.
THERE IS A DEADLY FORM OF ENTERITIS ABOUT IT IS CALLED HEAMORRHAGIC GASTRO ENTERITIS---
SYMPTOMS FIRST SIGNS VOMITING SECOND SIGNS- BLOODY DIARRHOEA THIRD SIGNS STOMACH CRAMPS THEN DEATH. WITHIN 24 HOURS. SEVEN DOGS HAVE DIED ALTOGETHER IN THREE DAYS 4 IN THE FOREST OF DEAN AND 3 IN CHEPSTOW
OR MAYBE VICA VERSA - THE VET THAT HAS ALL THE INFORMATION IS AT THE HARTPURY COLLEGE OF AGRICULTURE HE IS NOT PART OF THE COLLEGE BUT IS THE VET FOR THEM AND IS ON THE COLLEGE GROUNDS.
I SPOKE TO HIM THIS MORNING AFTER HEARING ABOUT IT ON THE LOCAL NEWS IT IS A DEADLY E-COLI BACTERIA AND IS NEW. MY MAIN CONCERN IS WITH DOG SHOWS . AND IT IS ALSO ONE OF THE VETS WORRIES . IT CAN AND WILL TRAVEL
TAKE CARE ANY SYMPTONS STRAIGHT TO THE VET DONT TAKE CHANCES I HOPE YOU DONT MIND ME SENDING THIS BUT YOU ALL IKNOW MY MAIN CONCERN IS THE DOGS DOTTIE

She is at the vets now and will stay in for 1 or two days. The vet is going to run a load of tests on her and pump her with antibiotics and antinflamitrys, which hopesfully will make her better. He mentioned the bug and the possiblity of parvo (she is vaccinated against this) but as she was walking she stands a fair chance 60-40.
The vets are ringing me tomorrow at 11.30 so i will let you all know then.
If it is the nasty bug then it has spread to Oxford, all dog owners beware

Hi Cordelia,
We have a 5 yr old GSD, who suffer''s quite alot with watery stool's, and on a few occasion,s there has been blood present, our vet treated tobruk for colitus(if not correct spelling please excuse me).he put him on tab's and within a few day's he was fine. He's alway's had quite a dicky stomachand he does have a gluten allergy, but i understand your worry as soon as you see blood you always think the worst, hopefully everything will be fine.also a few dog's in our village have been quite ill recently with sickness and diahhorea, maybe it is quite an infectious bug doing it's round's.

thank you kashia but the whole pooh was blood and a tiny amount of pooh, but i am hopeing that with early treatment she will survive.
She has bouts of diarrhea which only last for 1/2 a day then gets better so mixed with very bad sickness (just moved a chair in the living room to get a book that had fallen to notice a big pool of sick she must of done whilst i was picking the kids up from school) and not eating or drinking i believe it is more serious than watery stools.
The reason she is bleeding is because the lining of the intestine is being stripped away.

yeah , whoopi great news. She has had no more vomiting or poohs over night so what they have given her has done the trick, we may be able to pick her up tonight if she is much better or tommorow but they will ring me later.
Just got to wait for the test results to come back

So glad she is getting better. Saw that you are in Oxford, where abouts ? Has your vet seen anymore cases at all ? I live near Burford so slightly worried.

Cowley, he only said that he has had a lot of Parvo but not the other. But i do not think it was parvo. I suspect it was the heamarrhic gastro entiritis but until the tests come back we can't be sure.
I'm not quite sure what i am going to do when she gets back as she does not got to the toilet in the garden, she would rather hold on all day.

My baby is back yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, with loads of antibiotics, bless her she'll be ratling like a chemist :-)
Got to go back in two weeks though as they are going to give her an ecg and xrays then possibly a scan, as her heart is missing beats and the vet is not happy with her lack of energy.
But all in all i am so glad she is back full of life £530 well spent :-D
