OK not a serious issue here but after months of this behaviour I have to ask why does Monty continually lick my feet ! as a puppy he had this thing about removing socks from peoples feet and now he is older he seems to have progressed to licking the soles of my feet!!
If it were now & then it would not raise my curiosity as to why he does it but it is several times a day !

duno y. animals do funny things my cat dunks his head into anyones shoes as soon as there taken off and falls asleep. lol he must like the stink.

Monty may have a bit of an allergy. Foot licking is often a sign of an allergic reaction. As long as he is not licking them until they are sore it should not be a problem.

i read somewhere that dogs are attracted to feet because the smell in between people toes is similar to that of a bitch in heat,

my last dog use to do this ,it was an allergy which he suffered from all his life i had to bathe his feet in special shampoo from the vet every other day ,it does'nt cure it but it does keep it at bay ,if you look between the pads it does'nt always look sore but is covered in a dark brown stuff from all the licking ,get the vet to check him out,

It is my feet he is licking and since I hate feet I cannot see what the attraction is although knowing they may smell like a bitch on heat has made me determined to buy some foot deodorant!

lol this is a rather amusing post! my bitch likes to lick my feet although not constantly, but not only that she steals my socks!! she doesnt tear them up she just steals them..i dont know where from?! and piles them up in the hallway!! when i got home today there was two pairs of socks and one odd sock...its rather amusing walking in the front door and seeing a pile of socks...and as long as she isnt chewing them up i dont mind..what a silly girl.

Perry has had a foot fetish since we got him at 8 weeks old, i have to agree though it is kinda relaxing!!!!
He is very picky about whose feet he licks though, he will do mine and my best friends, but will not go near hubbys feet (mind you he loads up on the the ol' talc on his feet every morning after his shower (hubby not Perry!), maybe he doesn't like Johnsons baby talc!!)

our dog jade licks feet in our house, i quite like it but sometimes she gets a little carried away and nibbles my toes which is not so pleasant, i always thought they did it because your feet are salty with sweat.
my cat also puts her head in my hubbys work boots and goes to sleep. (at least i think she goes to sleep, maybe the whiff knocks her out cold!!)always thought she was a bit nutty though, she gets in my carrier bags whilst im unpacking my shopping, and if you buy anything new, she sits in the box

Our dog loves to lick feet he gets all excited till you take your socks off he prefers my husbands smelly feet to mine though.

This has proved to us what the rest of the family have always said .......I have the smelliest feet !!
Although I am glad to see other people dogs are choosey as well and only lick some peoples feet maybe it is because they are the nicest feet !! which is better for me to think than I have the smelliest!

I think the mention of salt may be a point ! as Monty rarely licks the kids feet and theirs dont seem to sweat like mine nor smell!!

My mini schnauzer loves any bare feet. He's quite obsessed with them and it's quite embarrassing in the summer time when friends are round wearing sandals. I've always wondered why he is so fascinated with the smell.

My bitch licks my feet, but not hubbys. At first it tickled to death, but I'm used to it now. She's very thorough, goes between each toe and then the sole!! :)

Oh yes, I read the bitch in heat thing as well - perhaps that explains young dogs humping legs and feet!!

My male staffie licks my feet all the time. I love it especially after an all day gardening session. Hubbie reckons I enjoy it more because he is a male dog, as he says its a womans world!!! LOL

Years ago, our family JRT used to lick anyone's feet...and I loved it !! :D The only downer on that was he used to get a bit carried away, start to lick the ankle, move higher up to the shin, and then start humping your leg lol crazy dog. None of my dogs now do it.

Ruby licks my feet and the backs of my knees (which tickles like CRAZY I can tell you).

She also has a rather unplesant habbit of pinching socks and knickers out the laundry basket and eating the crotch out of our pants! On odd occassions she has sneakily done this and when you come to put them on you discover you suddenly have crotchless knickers! Yuk! :D

Talking about nicker pinching dogs, I've got to share a very embarassing moment with you....
15 years ago, I was sleeping at my b/f's familie's house (who became my husband) and being low on clean nicks, I wore a really awful, disgusting pair of old red satiny one's. (YUCK) Anyway, getting dressed the next day my nicks had gone. His sister finally confessed to me that their American cocker had nicked my nickers and was lying in her room chewing on them. She was too embarassed to tell me at the time and I was soo embarassed at her thinking I normally wear bright red, satin nickers....lol

the thought of my Monty dragging my knickers around the house is embarrassing enough let alone someone elses house!! gave me a real chuckle !!

Hi Everyone ,what a relief to find that Lola is not the only pup with a foot and knicker fetish !she also raids the laundrey baskets , i had a friend for lunch last week and we thought Lola was quiet (usually a sign of trouble) and we found her with my daughters thong wrapped around her head a she was chewing away happily, also she chews and nibbles all of our feet mostly first thing in the morning ... its like an obstacle course ,and she is happy with the girls smelly trainers or freshly showered feet !!!!!!!the cat also actually dives into shoes and falls asleep .....dont you just love them !!who wants normal pets anyway !!Sue xx

Oh my. Just stumbled onto this forum and I have the same problem. My last puppy used to always lick my feet and it was heavenly!

Now we got a new dog a few months back and he never licks feet :( I have tried so many ways to get him to try but he has no interest. I have tried different scents, lotions etc. He does lick my mom's feet sometimes but that's it.

Anything else I can try? Anyone else have a dog who licks their feet?? :-P

My BC Laddie does it too - the sweatier and smellier your feet - the more he loves 'em!!! It started when I worked at a stables about 8 years ago, he would do it when I got home, and now he does it all the time. As soon as he sees someone move to take their shoes off, he is there, waiting. Sometimes he gets impatient and tries helping them remove their socks! The really funny thing is, my youngest dog, Indy, is now 2 and a half, and has learnt the habit from Laddie, so now I can one dog on each foot! I should hire them out. lol :D

My BC x ESS bitch does it too - she took over from my previous dog, but my previous bitch wasn't interested.  My other bitch doesnt' want to know either - only problem with Bonnie is that she gets a little over enthusiastic sometimes and teeth get involved.........  The funiest thing I ver saw though was when my hubby worked in an old fashioned 'sweat and sawdust' butchers shop - he'd come home with shoes cacked in troden in mince and sawdust, and all three dogs would line up to clean his shoes for him......

Maybe this is a BC thing as mine do it as well.  The youngest now has started to nibble at my nails on my hands.  Started it at the weekend after he was licking the prune juice off my hands, he then started nibbling at my nails (and I dont have long ones) really gentle.  It was quite relaxing like having a manicure really (not that I have ever had one of those either but its what I imagine one would feel like).
