lesley that is far to much weight for a pup of that age, i would advise you check how much he is eating and how much moving about he does, he is atleast 8 kg's to big and is putting much to much straine on his heart. He might be big but his heart is of that of a pup, dont forget that and never over feed your pup in a attempt to make him huge, cus all you will do is cause health problems, leave them to grow naturaly and he will be big enough.

Hi Sam, Barney is fed Autarky and the correct weight for weight. He lives with two rotties and a mastiff cross so is moving around quite a lot although is seperated for plenty of rest. He seems to be averaging out at 2 kilos gain over 10 days or so. We attend the puppy clinic at our vets so he gets checked over and certainly doesnt look overweight, infact he seems to be at the funny stage were he is all leg at the moment, and ears, mustn't forget the ears, they are huge and he uses them as leg warmers when sleeping! But thanks for advice, will definatley check again on Wednesday at the next puppy clinic.

if the pups a cross mastiff bullmastiff the weight can be any were between 6.8-13.6kg
15 to 30 pounds at 12 weeks so as long as the pups not over that you should be ok

Hi, this is a quick reply for Lesley - your pup's weight sounds okay to me. My partner and I keep Mastiffs and have done so for quite a few years now, we are also committee members of one of the Mastiff breed clubs. A Mastiff pup should be putting on an average of 5lb in weight a week but I must stress that this is an average and will not always be the case as each pup develops differantly. By the age of approx. 9 months the weight increase should start to slow down. It is very important not to allow too much weight on a Mastiff pup too soon and their development should be natural. If you want to know where you can get more advice please feel free to email me.
