I have a 8 lbs and 9 months old girl ShihTzu who just experience her first period last month, I have another 2yrs old male shitzu who had intercourse with her by accident. Now, the girl doesn't eat regularly, very picky on the food, and sleep a lot. I cannot tell if she is pregnant because she doesn't show it on her body. Is anyone know how to tell if a girl is pregnant, she is so tiny and young?

Get her to a vet and ask them if they can tell. You really shouldn't have allowed her to be mated in the first instance as she is but a tiny baby herself. However, it is too late to do anything about it now and you need to find out for sure whether she is pregnant or not so you can prepare and make her time as comfortable as possible.

I don't want her to get pregnant this early also, she seems does not know what is happened, the male one, he gets crazy about her when she's in heat. Now, he doesn't care much about her at all, and I think that's his first and last intercourse also. Now I have to decide who should I send to get it done. If this girl is pregnant for one or two months, is it too late to get her fixed, I will be really worry when she gives birth.

I'd be worried too, such a baby herself, your precautions should have been better!
However, she could have a serious infection, I would suggest you get her to a vet ASAP.

If you have no intention of breeding then get your boy castrated (fixed) as soon as possible so she can't get pregnant again. Whilst some vets will neuter bitches that are pregnant it is a far greater risk to do so.
As Dawn said she could also have an infection so best get her to a vet asap and book an appointment for your boy to be done at the same time!
Keep us posted.

Sorry, I just have to say it. Bitches dont have periods - they are called heat or season, and we usually refer to dogs mating not having intercourse. They are dogs not humans!! Why on earth didn't you seperate them when she first came in season? Please get him neutered asap and her spayed when your vet recommends it. If she is not pregnant - which is unlikley - she should be spayed about 10 weeks after her season finished. I may get slated now, but if she does whelp more than 2 puppies, I would have the others put to sleep to save her wearing her poor young body out by rearing a larger litter.

Why do breeders sell puppies of a different sex to people without making sure they understand what is required to stop this sort of thing happening? And why do people take on this responsibility with out understanding how to cope? Now we have a baby in whelp and a dog who will expect to mate everything in sight.

your male is not paying any attention to your bitch now but he will EVERY time she comes into season .I would personally get both your dogs 'fixed' since if you have not kept them apart this time how will you cope twice a year for the rest of her life.If your male is neutered there are many others out there that will scale fences etc to get to a bitch in season.

It is possible to spay a bitch even quite late in a pregnancy. I know some people find the idea distasteful, but I cannot see why with human abortion seen as the lesser of evils by many in our human society. Maybe it is because children can't be sold (least not in UK anyway).
