The bones develop and harden at around the same age in puppies regardles of breed. (Remembering of course that they all come from the same genetic stock.) A good rule of thumb for exercise of puppies of all breeds is approximatly five minutes per month of age. So 5 months equals around thirty minutes.

A stupid question but is that per walk [mine goes twice a day], or per day? I assume per day, so my 11 month old Staffie should have 55 minutes a day, or around an hour? Sorry to be thick. Nicki

Per walk. Assuming there is a reasonable recovery time in between. Of course, this is the maximum not the minimum. If you take it literally then the 15 year old should be walked for 15 hours a day!!! ;)

So yes, at 11 months old the maximum would be around an hour although again, no rule of thumb mesurment is perfect and by now you are getting near to the stage of saying there no longer is a limit. Bone growth having all but finished you are drawing out of the dangerous phase.

Thanks John, we usually take him 45 minutes each time so that's okay then. Nicki
