I have 2 bunches of keys which i use myself, one bunch for my car and the other for the garage and outhouses etc. What happens is this... when i pick up my car keys - my dog (max) goes and gets in his bed, when i pick up the garage keys - max runs outside jumping up at the garage door barking none stop till i open the garage door. I wonder how does he know which keys i have picked up? he can't see them cos he is a yorkie and is small. This doesn't bother me and isn't a problem i just wanted to share it with you all because i think it is funny. Does anyone else's dog do anything strange? :D

Thats so sweet, maybe it's a difference in sound or do you keep your keys in different places?

As Charlie says, the bunches of keys must sound different. Not necessarily to you, but a dog's hearing is way more acute than ours, so any difference will be obvious to him.

Bunches of keys do sound different! When I used to wait in the car servicing department to collect my car I knew when my car keys were being returned from a mechanic - just by the sound - strange but I could allways tell. Dogs are supposed to have brilliant hearing except Boxers (selective deafness when it suits!) - so your dog will have no trouble telling the difference between 2 sets of keys.

Fry our Choc Lab has learnt very quickly the difference between the loading and unloading of the dishwasher. Unloading she just lays on the floor and stares at you - after all the plates are all clean. However try loading the dishwasher and she is trying to climb in there with all the dirty dishes and you have to tell her to sit and leave. However she never moves more than 1 foot away just incase :D
I love that a CHOCOLATE lab is called FRY:) " Come to mum my little delight...."
My dog always seems to know we are going out, even though I don't think I'm doing anything different! He can be in the garden with the back door closed, and suddenly start barking and whining - so there is something I am doing, but don't know what! It's nothing as obvious as putting shoes or coat on, I know that much, so whatever he is picking up on, I would love to know! The other thing is, he can't always see me, yet he still starts carrying on, like somehow he knows we are going out for a walk!

my dogs know if im going to work, taking them out, or simply going down the shops.
When i am getting ready for work they start to get excited (i sometimes take them with me) if i am taking them nobody can move without getting pounced on, if im not taking them they get excited but you are able to move also if im not taking them they sit on the armchair and look out the window as if they are waving goodbye, if they are going for a walk, they get so excited as im putting my shoes on that they have to be shut out in the back garden so we can lock up and open the car ready, if im going down the shop they walk to the gate with me as calm as can be and are still there when i get back.
The sound of keys dont bother them other than tess waits for you to hand them to her, when she was a pup she used to carry the keys for the gate on the goat pen she know carries the buckets and feed scoops :)
