I have a bearded collie that is three years old and every couple of months he vomits and has diarrhea and after a few days will vomit up a giant hair ball (about the size of a cigar) after which all is well, no more vomiting or diarrhea.
We have been to a number of vets and they haven't been of much help.
Does anyone have any suggestions or information that could be of help to us.
Thank you.

Worms can make a cat cough too so maybe the cat needs worming?? If it is hairballs then some dried foods are formulated to assist in the passing of them :)

Your beardie, not being a cat, should not have hair balls, if you try to remove all the loose hair every day and put it some where that it can't be found and eaten, the hair balls, along with the upset stomach, should stop.
