I wanted to post this to warn people of the increase in dog stealing. So far, 2 days in a row, my mum has rung me with stories of dogs being stolen. yesterday was a dog being stolen from a car...and today was a dog stolen outside a sandwich shop (a 5 month old pup). Thing is, it is a really nice area, so its absolutely shocking! (Hampton Hill, Middlesex)
They are going round in a white van and grabbing dogs. Obviously very much planned and I do not want to even think of what they could be doing with those poor animals.
Please please be careful with your dogs. I personally NEVER leave dogs outside shops. Its far to risky, especially with a pedigrees.
I would be absolutely distraught if someone stole millie, please be careful. Even dogs left in cars for a few minutes are at risk.

yah, it is a horrible, cruel thing to do. Thoes dogs are loved and cared for, then sick people steal them, it makes you cringe. You have to look out EVERYWHERE you go. turn your back on your pooch for one min, and they have gone. really hope no one hasd had the experience of a stolen dog here.... if so- your dog still oves you.
Hi Steph is this a midlands thing or a national one ? ( and if youre not from midlands I apologise to all offended)
Just switched on brain and find Middlesex is a bit far away from Midlands Sorry:)

Hi
I read an article in the paper today about a 13 week boxer puppy being stolen (not sure where about) The owners had a telephone call saying they could have there dog back for £500. The dog owners called the police who didn't take it seriously! The dog owners had no choice but to pay the money and luckily the boxer (George) was returned unharmed.

No worries Lorelei. :)
I find this whole thing frightening and very upseting. I dont understand how anyone could do this to someones much loved pet.
7 bulldog puppies.....thats sickening!
Just goes to show that even remembering to not tie dogs up outside shops and to not leave them in cars stop it completely. These nasty b*stards wont stop at anything.
I really want people to warn people so they are doubly careful.
It has happened in Surrey (next to middlesex) too not long ago to a staffie.
Please take care out there everyone.

Be aware too that there is a new trend developing where joy riders steal estate cars containing dogs and drive like maniacs before abandoning the car. Apparently they get a kick out of the dog going beserk (sickens me).

Hi
I posted not long ago about dogs being stolen in our area (ceredigion, west wales) it seems to be happening everywhere doesn't it?
I can't stand it, and wish there was something that could be done. The police, usually, don't seem interested :(
Luckily, and thank God, it's never happened to me, but I know how devastated i'd be if it did. I just feel so sorry for the poor owners.
Since I read about the dogs being stolen around here..I've been trying to think of something I could do to help.....a lost and found thing....something like that? But I really don't know.
I've posted on here, so a lot of people have seen it........just not many in this area, which is a shame.
Well...I'll keep thinking!!
Anyway, hope those owners get their babies back, and those puppies being stolen and sold........it's just sick. What's wrong with these people?
Take care

hi dizzy ,i know the owners of these dogue pups, they have all been returned!!The breeder made fatal mistakes in showing the exact location where the puppies were kept and where the adults were housed. She even told the thief the exact time she went out to walk the adult dogs and the chap was dropped off at her address and was not asked for id.When my neo,s are born,i will not be going out at all,and i want references for the buyersand id,passpoet etc so i can be sure who they are.If they dont like it then they are not worthy of my babies.

kane, how did they get them back,???? im over the moon for them, ????

the dogue puppies were found because A) 3 were retreived because the thiefs girlfriend grassed him up to the police after she had a row with him, they were found stashed in his shower room B) 1 was seen by a police officer who was aware of the theft, being dragged up the high st by a young lad(poor pup was only 8 weeks old) he was stopped and questioned on where he had obtained the pup from.---a happy ending, but it never needed to happen,my house is like fort knox, and i will not be leaving the house once the pups are here,i am not taking chances.

As far as I'm concerned if you can't take your dog with you everywhere you go best leave it at home. Leaving them unattended in a public place is asking for trouble!

Amen Jesse!
I totally agree. Thats how I feel! If I cant take the dogs with me, then either I dont go (and the snotty shop misses out on a sale) or I go later without them.
Its not worth the risk. :(

Oh, I would leave them with my mum/fiance/friend etc...but just not on their own. What happened to your mum was unbelieveable!

Nearly happened to my mums yorkie, an old lady untied him and began to walk off with him just as my mum came out the shop, needless to say my mum went mad, its shocking that people can do this sort of thing. Around where I live a lot of bull breeds tend to go missing, unfortunately it is often 'travellers' that steal these dogs, god only knows what they do with them :( it doesnt bear thinking about.

There's been a recent spate of SBTs going missing in my area, [Hertfordshire], the local paper did an article - apparently they're being taken to fight, awful isn't it? Nicki

Hi
Slightly off track here but we has about $ 10,ooo Koi poisoned and our dogs let
out .We were up til 1am in the morning sorting out a quarnteen tank out readr
to transfer the fish in the morning as we are making the pond bigger, got to bed by 2am and at 7am came down to find all
the massive fish some floating some at the bottom 5' deep pond. They had been
slugg pelleted .The water quality was excellent its tested everyday and it runs
at hospital filtration standards. We managed to save the smaller fish as these are not as
greedy as the monsters we had .The fish were all picked out by my partner when
he was out in Japan. It was gut wrenching to see so much prized fish and research
gone.
The dogs were in a run outside my backdoor (croft 4' puppy pannels) the whole lot
had been shoved towards the door and the gate unbolted at 7pm.Luckily the dogs were
found in field next door reluctant to come back to the garden.
Hence to say we now have cctv over the fish and the dog kennels. The police
were not really interested over the fish, more of a case not like your house has been burgled
There is definately increase in koi crime and attempting to steal dogs.

Hi should read £10,ooo not $10.000.
Oh and I live in a sleepy village in Lincolnshire.
Briony

Probably some of the local yoof Briony
Hi Briony
You poor thing, I bet you and your partner are absolutely sickened and gutted.
We keep koi carp as well, but ours are no where near worth as much as yours only probably £3000 but we`ve had them quite a few years and they feed out of our hands and they`ve got names etc.
At least your dogs were found unharmed thats a really good thing.
Take care

Hi ,
Ours fed out of our hands as well they even sucked on Gundo's nose :-o
We had 3 at 29 inches long,in all we lost 17.
We are building our new pond which holds 7,ooo gallons now and is over 6' deep.
We are gradually building the stock back. The pond will also be completely covered
Another reason why our dog run is covered and down the sides we have mesh infill
panels from croft to prevent anything been thrown over into the dogs.
It's really sad the measures you have to go through to keep your animals and family
safe.
Briony :-)
