Has anyone had a pregnant bitch that exhibits strange and out of character behaviour. My bitch is possibly into her 4th week of pregnancy and has started to eat mud and gravel off our driveway. She also sits for ages in the paddock just staring up at the sky in a complete dream state.Quite weird really!!!!

- By niffer16 [gb] Date 30.08.03 12:26 UTC

- By tanni [gb] Date 30.08.03 16:18 UTC
you ate mud and gravel?? :D :D :D .
- By madmum [gb] Date 30.08.03 19:29 UTC
is it not dangerous to eat gravel and stones
- By raffystaffy [gb] Date 30.08.03 19:59 UTC
possibly speak to your vet. eating gravel will surley do her no good.
- By Jerry Lundegard [us] Date 31.08.03 01:19 UTC
actually, you should be concerned with the eating of gravel. talk to your vet.

lel: how many times a day do you post? this forum is bordering a life style for you.
- By lel [gb] Date 31.08.03 10:34 UTC

Thanks JG ;)
Although I have to tear myself away next week as I am back at work - boohoo :(
- By kane [gb] Date 31.08.03 14:19 UTC
i am not stupid enough to let her swallow it,i am with her when she is outside and distract her with alternative nibbles. that phase is disappearing and she seems to be sleeping alot!!
- By Gerard [us] Date 05.09.03 06:00 UTC
... but you are stupid?
- By kane [gb] Date 05.09.03 08:15 UTC
Why am i stupid Gerard??If you make comments like that back them up with something to say!!! My dog is well cared for, trained and is given the best of everything and she attempted to eat gravel but i dont let her near it anymore. So why am i stupid?? and my previous response was to Jerry who was rude, and no one else.
- By Carla Date 05.09.03 08:59 UTC
take no notice of Gerard
- By Gerard [us] Date 05.09.03 15:56 UTC
hey... you said it: "i'm not stupid enough..." which leads me to infer that while you are not "stupid enough" - you are in fact stupid. and i'm willing to bet that you are also white and overweight. i'm good aren't I? :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 05.09.03 16:00 UTC
Gerard, it's time for your medication. Here it comes, open wide ....... there, that's better isn't it? Now back to your "room" for a little rest. Come along.
- By steph n millie [gb] Date 05.09.03 16:03 UTC

- By kane [gb] Date 05.09.03 20:48 UTC
Gerard,i am an optometrist, get a dictionary dear if you dont know what one of those is!! SO HOW CAN I BE STUPID??Why are you on this forum when all you do is BE RUDE!!
- By dizzy [gb] Date 05.09.03 21:12 UTC
back to the original question---as your bitch is now sleeping all the time it looks like the signs are good, is she clingy and very affectionate too ????????
- By kane [gb] Date 06.09.03 07:17 UTC
Hi dizzy, today is day 29 in her pregnancy, her boobies have gone a deep red/brown colour and her rear set have drooped slightly into a triangle shape. Her waistline has not expanded but her ribcage has widened considerably, and on a couple of days she had a thick sticky cream coloured discharge. She is very clingy and i cannot leave her or she whines and howls.I am now onto the gin as recommended by jeangenie.hic!! thanks to all of you that had something nice to say.The owner of the stud has just told me that their friends neo bitch had a phantom pregnancy, which was absolutely identical to a normal pregnancy.now im worried!!!
- By dizzy [gb] Date 06.09.03 10:17 UTC
arent you going to have her scanned, then youd no for sure ??? it sounds as though she is, ive only ever had one phantom bitch , she didnt get clingy as such, just depressed, and shed get bigger boobs but but rosey pinky ones, and never got the stringy discharge that a pregnant bitch has, ----i think from the description yours is, -good luck and keep us up to date./
- By kane [gb] Date 06.09.03 14:34 UTC
dearest dizzy,my fluffy cup cake.---My girlie is having a scan on thursday,if i go to him its only £20 so i thought what the heck, saves me the tension of waiting!!
- By lel [gb] Date 06.09.03 08:54 UTC
Gerard - thats very strange because that would have been my descrition of YOU - overweight and stupid ( with emphasis on the stupid)
- By pinklilies Date 05.09.03 21:54 UTC
please take no notice of gerard...you will see if you care to search for previous postingsthat he/she never has anything useful to say! oh and btw"gerard" v "jerry lundegard", one and the same i take it....
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 05.09.03 22:04 UTC
I think you're right, pinklilies. They are remarkably similar in style. Unfortunately.
- By luvly [gb] Date 06.09.03 09:01 UTC

- By Jackie H [gb] Date 06.09.03 15:23 UTC
Don't think they have even reached the Kevin stage, years to go before the menopause, should they be lucky enough to live that long, which I doubt if they don't mend their manners.
