Hi
I have a 7 month old lab puppy, he is toilet trained in our house and tells us when he wants to go out. When we are out on walks he will not go to the toilet or cock his leg (in fact has never once cocked his leg). It does not matter how long we are out he just will not go until we return home. Is this something that will happen gradually in time??

Hi
Two things really; My sister has a lab and he didn't cock his leg until he was about 2 or 3! The vet said he was just lazy and even now he squats some times.
Our pup is younger than yours but won't go to the loo anywhere apart from home. We took her to visit someone and we were gone for over three hours. We tried for a good 15 mins before we came home but she just wouldn't go, but as soon as we got in she went straight to her spot and pee'd for England!
I'm sure they'll both grow out of it but in the mean-time you should be pleased he's so clean.

To be truefull I would rather my dog went on my land, don't mind a pee in the park but not a poo, you only have to pick it up. Would be pleased if I were you and do not encourage it. They will pee outside when they are mature, you just try and stop them letting every dog around know they are there.
